001 G+ Spike

The 001 G+ Spike runs slightly small. Most runners size up ½ size. If you’re between sizes, we recommend choosing the larger one.

The toe box is naturally shaped to allow for toe splay, while the midfoot and heel provide a secure, performance lockdown

Graphene is the thinnest, strongest, and most conductive naturally occurring material in the world, even winning a Nobel Prize in physics. It’s water-resistant to 10,000mm, breathable, bacteriostatic, and offers excellent thermoregulatory capabilities, meaning it excels in cold and wet environments. 

The spikes on the 001 G+ Spike are for traction in the most extreme conditions: sheets of ice, deep snow, wet slush and other winter conditions. Since they’re embedded directly into the sole (10 on each shoe), they remove the need to purchase external running spikes.

The spikes on the 001 G+ Spike are made of carbide steel, a composite material often used in industrial cutting, mining, and drilling. Carbide steel is much denser, stiffer, and more wear-resistant than standard steel.

Yes. The 001 G+ Spike accommodates wider forefeet thanks to its anatomical toe box. While not classified as a “wide” shoe, many runners with wider feet find it comfortable.

Yes. The 001 G+ Spike offers secure lockdown through the midfoot and heel, ensuring that wearers with narrow feet will be both secure and comfortable.

Yes. All norda footwear has an anatomical toebox to allow for natural foot splay.

Yes. The 001 G+ Spike’s Dyneema upper, Vibram midsole, Vibram outsole, and carbide steel spikes ensure that it’s durable, protective, supportive and grippy across all types of terrain, including technical terrain.

The 001 G+ Spike is made for extreme winter conditions, where the 001A is an all-around trail shoe. The G+ spike adds carbide steel spikes for grip as well as a G+ graphene inner layer for water resistance and thermoregulation, and uses a Vibram SLE midsole, which is firmer than the 001A’s Arnitel TPEE midsole, to securely house its spikes.

Yes. The 001 G+ Spike  is optimally cushioned for ultra distances while remaining responsive enough for daily training or race efforts.

The 001 G+ Spike  and other norda models with a graphene membrane (001 G+ Spike and 003 G+) offer water resistance rated to 10,000 mm. 

Non-G+ models are naturally water-resistant as well, as Dyneema is hydrophobic and does not absorb water. However, their woven construction intentionally allows for airflow and drainage.

Yes. For extreme conditions, the 001 G+ Spike is ideal. It’s a winterized version of our foundational 001 model equipped with durable carbide steel spikes that provide traction on snow and even ice.

The bio-based Dyneema® upper is engineered for extreme abrasion resistance.

By weight, Dyneema® is up to 15x stronger than steel and significantly more durable than traditional mesh or knit uppers. Durability is one of the defining features of the 001 G+ Spike.

Dyneema® is the world’s strongest and lightest fiber. It’s up to 15x stronger than steel by weight, meaning that a pound of Dyneema is 15 times stronger than a pound of steel.

Dyneema® delivers exceptional abrasion resistance, cut resistance, and long-term durability, without adding weight. Compared to traditional mesh or knit uppers, it maintains structure and performance far longer, which directly contributes to the 001 G+ Spike ’s longevity and cost-per-wear advantage.

The 001 G+ Spike  features a custom Vibram® outsole developed exclusively with norda that’s made to house its carbide steel spikes.

Vibram®, founded in 1937 in Italy, is widely regarded as the leader in high-performance rubber compounds. Our proprietary Vibram® formulation balances grip, durability, and traction across wet rock, loose terrain, and hardpack — ensuring consistent performance in varied trail conditions.

It depends on how hard you are on your shoes and the conditions you play in. norda footwear is put through rigorous lab testing and trail running before final production, and built with the finest materials available to ensure its longevity and durability.

As a general guideline, running shoes should be replaced around 700 km (500 miles).

However, many norda athletes exceed 1,600 km (1,000 miles) in their 001 G+ Spike  while maintaining performance. Longevity and durability is a key reason customers cite norda’s lower cost per wear compared to traditional trail shoes.

Yes. All norda insoles are removable. Simply replace the stock insole with your custom orthotic.

No. Due to the carbide steel spikes, which are permanently embedded in the midsole, we do not recommend wearing the 001 G+ spike indoors or as a casual footwear option
