Yes. It’s also one of the lightest trail racing shoes in the world. A men’s size 8.5 US weighs 214g and a women’s size 8 US wears 177g.

Yes. The 005’s lightweight construction and durability make it suitable for long distances at both easy and race day efforts.

The standard 005 is water-resistant. Dyneema® is hydrophobic and does not absorb water, but the woven construction allows for airflow and drainage.

Though the 005 is capable on slick and slippery terrain, its primary goal and focus is speed and lightness. If you’re frequently running on terrain like hard-packed snow, we’d recommend the 001A or 002 — or, for extreme conditions, the 001 G+ Spike is ideal. It’s a winterized version of our foundational 001 model equipped with durable carbide steel spikes that provide traction on snow and even ice.

The bio-based Dyneema® upper is engineered for extreme abrasion resistance.

By weight, Dyneema® is up to 15x stronger than steel and significantly more durable than traditional mesh or knit uppers. Durability is one of the defining features of the 005.

Dyneema® is the world’s strongest and lightest fiber. It’s up to 15x stronger than steel by weight, meaning that a pound of Dyneema is 15 times stronger than a pound of steel.

Dyneema® delivers exceptional abrasion resistance, cut resistance, and long-term durability, without adding weight. Compared to traditional mesh or knit uppers, it maintains structure and performance far longer, which directly contributes to the 005’s longevity and cost-per-wear advantage.

The 005 features a custom Vibram® outsole developed exclusively with norda.

Vibram®, founded in 1937 in Italy, is widely regarded as the leader in high-performance rubber compounds. Our proprietary Vibram® formulation balances grip, durability, and traction across wet rock, loose terrain, and hardpack — ensuring consistent performance in varied trail conditions.

The 005 is a “race day(s)” shoe. Unlike most other race day shoes, which are only optimized for a single all-out effort, the 005’s durability and construction can keep it intact for multiple races and hundreds of miles.

Yes. All norda insoles are removable. Simply replace the stock insole with your custom orthotic.
